Family Photographer Sydney

North Shore studio, Sydney-wide sessions

Your family won't look like this forever.

The kids are growing faster than you can keep up with. The dog isn't getting any younger either. And the last decent photo of all of you together is probably sitting on your phone somewhere, buried under a hundred others you'll never print.

I get it. Finding a free Saturday feels impossible. You're not sure the kids will cooperate. You definitely don't feel like getting in front of a camera right now. And your husband is probably already dreading the idea.

None of that means you shouldn't do it. It just means you haven't found the right person yet.

Everything you need to know before you book

If you're searching for a family photographer in Sydney, you've probably got a few tabs open and no easy way to tell one studio from another. Here's what actually matters, and how a session with me works, so you can make a decision instead of guessing.

What actually makes a difference when you're choosing

A studio session means consistent light and a controlled space, rain or shine. My studio in Gordon is 175 square metres with three big arch windows, so weather is never a factor.

If you'd rather have a natural outdoor backdrop, I also shoot at a bush location in Pymble. Both are proper options, not a compromise.

Dog-friendly means different things to different photographers. In my studio, your dog is part of the session from the start, not squeezed in for one quick shot at the end.

What you actually walk away with matters too.

Some photographers hand you a link to a digital gallery and leave you to sort it out.

I don't do online galleries. You come back to the studio, we sit down together, and I help you work out what's worth printing and where it'll go on your wall.

Then there's experience. I've been doing this 23 years, photographed around 2,500 families, and I'm an AIPP award winner.

I've got 271 five-star Google reviews from families who can tell you what a session with me is actually like.

Where I work

My studio is in Gordon on Sydney's North Shore, with easy parking. Families come to me from across the North Shore, the Hills District, the Northern Beaches and the CBD, and further afield too if the outdoor Pymble location suits.

Questions people ask before booking

What's the difference between a studio session and an outdoor session?

The studio gives you a controlled, weatherproof space with a home-like feel. Outdoor sessions at my Pymble location give you a natural bush backdrop. Both are relaxed and both welcome dogs. It comes down to what setting feels right for your family.

How far in advance should I book?

As soon as you know the date you want, especially for weekends or a specific season. Weekday sessions tend to have more availability at short notice.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Dogs are welcome in the studio and outdoors, and I'm used to working with whatever mood they're in on the day.

What age should my kids be?

Any age, from newborns through to teenagers and adult children. There's no minimum or maximum.

Do you offer online galleries?

No. You come back to the studio for an in-person ordering session, so you're not left to make decisions about prints and products on your own.

How much does a family session cost in Sydney?

Most families invest between $500 and $3,000 depending on what they choose to take home. The session fee to book is $200, which includes $100 credit towards your order.

What if my kids won't sit still or my husband doesn't want to be there?

Both come up constantly, and both usually turn out fine. I'm used to working with reluctant teenagers, hyper toddlers and sceptical husbands who end up enjoying it more than they expected.

How long until I get my photos?

Digital files within 48 hours. Prints take about two weeks, albums about four.

Do you photograph extended or blended families?

Yes. Any family shape or size, including grandparents, multiple generations and pets.

None of this matters much if the photos themselves don't mean something.

This is the age your kids are right now, the dog included, all of you together. One day you'll look back and remember exactly how this felt.
