Vintage Kids book project
$50 photography session for kids aged 6 months to 7 years, with your child's image in a limited-edition book. $50 donated directly to Starlight Children's Foundation.
There's a version of you, a few years from now, looking at a photo of your child at this exact age, and thinking: I'm so glad I did that.
That's what this project is.
I'm photographing a kids aged 6 months to 7 years for a limited-edition book called Vintage Kids.
Beautiful vintage styling, timeless images, a proper studio session, and a copy of the book with your child's image inside it.
All for a $50 participation fee, donated directly to the Starlight Children's Foundation.
After the session, you'll view your images the same day. Most families choose to take some home. There's no pressure and no minimum beyond the $50.
I know what you're thinking.
My child won't sit still. They'll cry. They'll refuse to cooperate. I've heard this from almost every parent who's walked through my door in 23 years.
And I can tell you honestly, it almost never goes the way you're dreading.
I'm Kate. I've been photographing children for over two decades.
I know how to work with a shy one, a wild one, a clingy one and a contrary one.
We don't rush anything. We let them settle, choose their outfit, have a look around. The best images come from a child who's relaxed and just being themselves. So that's what I wait for.
My own kids are grown up now.
I look back at photos of them at this age and I feel it, that mixture of joy and something close to loss, because this version of them is gone and I was lucky enough to have it documented.
These are the photos you'll still be looking at when they're teenagers. When they leave home. When they have kids of their own.
This age is so short. Apply below and I'll be in touch.

Why am I supporting Starlight?
My close friend Cass's little boy Hugh was diagnosed with leukaemia at just one year old. Their family spent two years in and out of Westmead Children's Hospital, and there were moments they nearly lost him. He was eventually saved by a bone marrow transplant.
Starlight was there through all of it. The Starlight Room, the Captain Starlights visiting the wards, the laughter they brought into what was one of the hardest periods of Cass's life. In the middle of something so frightening, Starlight made Hugh's days a little brighter.
Hugh's story has a happy ending. He's in remission now and living life to the fullest.
That's why I chose Starlight Children’s Foundation. And that's where your $50 goes.
HOW DO MY KIDS BECOME PART OF THE PROJECT?
Some kind words from past clients
”I can not recommend Kate enough. The whole process was fun, easy and professional. Hollie stills talks about “the nice ladies with the bubbles” and asks to come back and play. Hollie was quite shy at first but Kate made her feel like a true princess and she soon became comfortable and Kate got some beautiful shots. The photographs I received of my daughter are absolutely stunning and I cannot thank them enough for capturing the many faces and moods of my cheeky toddler. We have received so many comments on how gorgeous the photos are from family and friends.” Melinda Hogan
”We had a great experience at über photography. Kate was both lovely and professional. We had great communication before and after the session. We were worried about our little girl being shy with strangers, and concerned about how the photos will turn out. The photos turned out great!! Again this just demonstrates how professional and experienced Kate is in this field! Highly recommended!” Helen Zhang
”Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. So delighted with the photos of our little ones which captured their personalities and close relationship they have with each other. Only problem we had was choosing which photos! Thank you for giving us memories we will cherish forever!” Pia Tolentino

This is the most common worry I hear and I can tell you it almost never plays out the way parents dread. I've been photographing children for 23 years. Shy ones, wild ones, clingy ones and contrary ones. I know how to work with all of them. We don't rush anything. We let your child settle in their own time, choose their outfit and have a look around the studio. The best images come from a child who's relaxed and just being themselves, so that's exactly what I wait for.

The Vintage Kids project is open to children aged 6 months to 7 years. They need to be sitting up unsupported. If you have older siblings they are welcome to join in, but you will need to bring their own outfits

No. The only commitment is the $50 participation fee. Any photos beyond that are entirely your choice. That said, most parents find it hard to walk away empty-handed once they see their images on screen.

Yes. I have a full wardrobe of vintage-inspired pieces for both boys and girls, so you don't need to bring anything special. When you arrive your child gets to choose what they'd like to wear, which is usually one of their favourite parts of the whole experience. If your child has a special outfit they'd love to wear, they're welcome to bring it along too.
