I recently photographed this family for the fourth time. I have been privileged to photograph both little girls as little newborns and then at 1 year old. I love that both girls with have such special memories captured of them for the future.

Stevens family

We love to see families again for portrait sessions because we know how much joy they get from recording their beautiful family memories and sharing them. We did a session with the Stevens family two years ago as a surprise gift for the grandparents and it was a delight to photograph them again for the grandparents 40th wedding anniversary. It will be a wonderful keepsake for the children in years to come to have a record of both sets of grandparents together in this very special family photograph.

Bard Family

The Bard family won a portrait session through a donation we had made to their school. This session was at Centennial Park and was so special because the family dog was such an important part of the day. We love photographing pets and we welcome having them in family photographs as we know what an important part of the family they are!

Ligato Girls

A very special session with mum and her girls. One of the things I love about photography and recording memories for families is the ability to capture personalities and moments in time through the lens. This is a perfect example with the contrast between the girls personalities evident throughout and the obvious sibling love despite their different interests. This will be a lovely record for them in years to come.

Palethorpe Family

This gorgeous little boy is just ten months old and already about to walk. Mum and Dad are past wedding clients of über and as always I love to see how life has changed for them and have the pleasure of photographing these precious moments. Throughout the session he was fascinated with the flowers and trees around us and I am sure his sense of adventure is going to keep mum busy!

Soup kitchen with über photography

Last month we held a 'soup kitchen' event at the studio as part of the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photographers) continued professional development program. As active members of the AIPP and passionate photographers and business owners, holding these events are always fun and give us an amazing opportunity to share our knowledge and experience with fellow photographers. The events are only open to professional photographers and they always sell out fast. Over two hours we share our experiences of running a studio, how we grow our business and manage and maintain our workflow. After over seven years in business and growing stronger each year, its a pleasure to share our journey with other photographers and hear their stories and experiences.

Sharing knowledge within our industry is something über is very passionate about and being a part of the AIPP allows us to do this and help our industry maintain its professional standards and reputation.

If you would like more information about the AIPP or other workshops über photography holds, please email us info@uberphotography.com.au

Wray Family

This is the fourth time I have photographed the Wray family, every year since Nicholas was one. It gives me so much pleasure to see kids grow and change every year and for their parents to capture these precious memories forever. Nicholas is almost too old now for his favourite soft toy 'Lamby' but as he has been a part of every session we have done, he had to be included this time!

Pepper Family

The Pepper's are a local North Shore family and I enjoyed visiting them in their home for this session. The kids loved showing me their rooms and all their favourite places in the house. They were full of energy and very playful with their parents. Home sessions are always very relaxed and fun and I think it's a special memory for the family to have their photos in their own home.

Stimoli Family

We met the Stimoli's at The Baby & Toddler Show in Sydney when we had our stand there in September. It was lovely to welcome them into the studio and photograph their new baby boy with his two adoring big sisters. They were a lovely family to photograph with lots of smiles and cuddles from everyone throughout the session.

Dalziel Family

The Dalziel family were home from Switzerland to visit family and friends with their baby daughter. She was a gorgeous little baby to photograph, very smiley and easy going. She looked absolutely beautiful in the dresses mum had brought for her to wear but I love the nappy only photographs. She has such a cheeky little face and you can really see her personality come to life.

Edwards Family

Mr Edwards is a teacher at my kids's school and he was given one of our gift vouchers when his daughter was born. She was an absolutely gorgeous baby to photograph, full of smiles and giggles especially when being cuddled by mum and dad. It's always so lovely to have babies in the studio and I always have so much fun helping mum and dad to keep them happy throughout the session.

O'Haver girls

This was one of my most favourite sessions this year. The O'Haver girls were just beautiful in their summer dresses and it was a perfect spring day. Their mum waited in the car while I took the girls on a walk in the field to pick flowers for her. As we walked and chatted I took their photos creating a very natural and relaxed atmosphere. It was wonderful to capture them showing each other so much affection and I know these photos will remind them of that in years to come.

Caristo Family

As always we are thrilled when we photograph a wedding and then meet the couple again a few years later when they have had a family. It's such a delight to hear how their lives have changed and meet their children. The Caristo's have two very active little boys who were an absolute pleasure to photograph. The weather was beautiful and the boys adored all the spring flowers in the field. In fact I think they picked almost every one!

Bristow Family

This was the first family portrait session I have done in the rain but it wasn't the first time I have photographed the Bristow's in the rain! Two years ago when we photographed their wedding it also rained but on both occasions it didn't dampen the mood. They now have a little boy and it's so lovely to see wedding couples we have photographed when they have become a little family. This session was extra special with their brother visiting from the UK we were able to take some memorable family shots for grandma.

About Kate

We thought it was time we shared something with you about Kate, one half of über photography and an award winning family photographer. Kate shares the special families she photographs on this blog with you but we thought you might like to get to know Kate a little better.

Kate Buechner has a natural gift with the camera and many years of experience as a photographer that have allowed her to develop her skills and achieve outstanding results whether she is photographing a family session or a wedding.

As a mother of three young children Kate has a special affinity with children and family portraits and her unique talent has been recognised through several awards, including NSW Family Photographer of the Year 2011.

Kate is a council member of the NSW Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), the governing body for photography, and has been for the last three years. She is often asked to share her knowledge and experience with other members of the institute through presentations and workshops.

Kate’s relaxed and friendly attitude makes every session a comfortable and unique experience and clients often comment on her ability to capture the personality and emotions of her subjects.

Below Kate has shared some of her own family photos with you - not only is she an amazing photographer and business woman but a busy mum too!

Family beach photography- Beeton family

There is nothing quite as much fun as playing on the beach with your brother (except perhaps adding a puppy). I really enjoyed this session. The Beeton family live close to the beach and the photos capture perfectly the enjoyment this family has spending time together.
