Favourite Finds At The Baby & Toddler Show

Last weekend (September 30-October 2, 2011) we had a stand at Australia's essential parenting and baby event, The Baby & Toddler Show in Sydney. It was a huge few days and we met so many lovely people with lots of new sessions booked. We had so many entries to our give away of a portrait session and a 16 x 24 canvas valued at $800 that we decided to give away two sessions! Thank you everyone for your entries. One of the highlights of the show was exploring the other stands and meeting some of the other talented business owners on display. So we thought we'd give you a brief round up of some of our favourite finds at the Baby & Toddler show.

Tribe Bags - new to the market, these baby bags are so stylish and have an amazing range of colours and styles as well as accessories like the travel wallet.

Babyguru - for reviews of  baby and maternity products and lots of great information for mums and dads, visit Babyguru.

Lunchboxes with Love - this is such a great idea and any parent will tell you that sometimes you desperately need some lunchbox inspiration.

Kaftan Kids - these are beautiful, unique and so perfect for summer. I bought one for my daughter and she loves it!

escargot - swimming costumes for kids. These are beautifully made with really original designs and patterns.

Kate Lauren Designs - linen for kids which is so fresh and beautiful we have organised to have it on display and available to purchase in the studio!

About Kate

We thought it was time we shared something with you about Kate, one half of über photography and an award winning family photographer. Kate shares the special families she photographs on this blog with you but we thought you might like to get to know Kate a little better.

Kate Buechner has a natural gift with the camera and many years of experience as a photographer that have allowed her to develop her skills and achieve outstanding results whether she is photographing a family session or a wedding.

As a mother of three young children Kate has a special affinity with children and family portraits and her unique talent has been recognised through several awards, including NSW Family Photographer of the Year 2011.

Kate is a council member of the NSW Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP), the governing body for photography, and has been for the last three years. She is often asked to share her knowledge and experience with other members of the institute through presentations and workshops.

Kate’s relaxed and friendly attitude makes every session a comfortable and unique experience and clients often comment on her ability to capture the personality and emotions of her subjects.

Commitment to offering a service and products of the highest quality has seen Kate, alongside husband Chris, grow über photography into an award winning boutique studio.

Below Kate has shared some of her own family photos with you - not only is she an amazing photographer and business woman but a busy mum too!

NSW AIPP family photographer 2011

It has been an exciting few days for me. On Sunday the annual NSW AIPP Photography Awards were held. These awards are run by Australian Institute of Photography. Professional photographers from across NSW compete for a number of industry awards, which are judged by a panel of their peers.

My images were entered in the family category. My prints scored 3 silver awards and a silver distinction award. It was amazing to have my prints judged so highly by my peers.

Last night was the Awards Presentation night. It was a huge night for me, I still haven't taken it all in.

I was awarded the NSW AIPP Professional Family Photographer of the Year 2011.

As you know I am passionate about my job, I love documenting families through photography and am constantly inspired by my own family to capture each moment for their future memories. Life moves so quickly and through my camera I am able to capture the magic of families as they grow.

To be recognised by my peers for the work that I love is almost overwhelming. I want to thank my clients for choosing me to document their families.

Little Heroes 2010

Bookings have opened for Little Heroes 2010- call us now to reserve your child's page! This beautiful book is being produced to raise money for Bear Cottage, NSW's only children's hospice. In 2009 we completed the first ever Little Heroes project. It was a great success and we raised a much needed $3,000 for Bear Cottage. Parents paid a session fee for their child to appear in the book, and 100% of this fee went directly to Bear Cottage. The Little Heroes 2009 book is beautiful and has so many amazing images of the children who participated.

Located in Manly, Bear Cottage is a facility for children and young people with life-limiting  illnesses who will not grow up to be adults. The Cottage is a place where these children and their families can come to be cared for and supported through the good days, the difficult days and the last days.

This year we need 120 kids to participate! We have also introduced a new theme for Little Heroes 2010- Teddy Bears. Every child in the book will be photographed with a cuddly teddy, to help emphasise the caring message of Bear Cottage. (If you don't have a teddy, don't worry- we can bring one for you on the day of your session).

So hurry, call us on 9499 8797 to secure your Little Heroes session and be part of this amazing project!

"At Bear Cottage we promise no miracles...all we can give is a little happiness today. With your help, we can keep doing it tomorrow."

Welcome to the Uber Kids Blog! We've decided to separately blog our portraits and weddings. If you are a current portrait client and past Uber wedding couple, keep your eyes peeled- you'll be featured on both!

In case you don't know, our studio has recently moved premises from Wahroonga to Killara. We are now right on the Pacific Highway and the space is triple the size of the old studio.

We have a second storey with a dedicated shooting space which means we can now do studio sessions. This makes things much easier for newborn shoots as Kate can use all of her backgrounds and props. And it means we even have room to photograph the much loved family dog!
